DeBoer_Coat_Of_Arms_1.jpg (149851 bytes)
This coat of arms was located in a book at a city library when I was 13 years old and just starting into researching my genealogy, so of course I didn't write down the name of the book, all I remember is the book was "over sized" and was fairly old at the time.  I feel this is more of a "true" representation of the deBoer coat of arms than the one to the right.  They are simular in looks but you'll notice that the right half of the shield is a bit different. This coat of arms was e-mailed to me by someone I met on the internet.   This is a typical style of those "Send us $10 and we'll send you your families coat of arms, suitable for framing".  The shield piece is very close to the coat of arms on the left, but I do not know the origin of the above, and since I have seen similar "styles" as door knockers on peoples homes with their family name on it, I have to believe that the coat of arms to the left is a truer representation for the deBoer family.

I ran across a "pop up add" on Heraldry.  I entered the DeBoer name and it returned the following, including what they call the family motto.  "According to our research, the origin of the name is Dutch and the Coat of Arms contains A silver shield divided per pale, on the left, a half eagle, on the right, two red bendlets sinister between six green trefoils. The family motto is Pro Deo, Rege et Patria".  Take this with a grain of salt... just do a search on "Pro Deo, Rege et Patria" ... it seems that just about every family under the sun has this motto or some form of it.
